Blue Springs Egg Farm staff speaks with students on agricultural careers
MERCERSBURG, Pa. – Representatives from Blue Springs Egg Farm created excitement about careers in agriculture during a visit today to the Franklin County Career & Technology Center.
Team members from Blue Springs, a sustainable cage-free egg-laying facility owned and operated by Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch, met with multiple groups of students to discuss career paths in agriculture and working with future employers.
“It is always a privilege to speak with the next generation of our workforce and share the skills needed to succeed in the workforce no matter which career path students choose,” said Meghan Nutt, human resources manager at Blue Springs. “Herbruck’s is committed to providing good-paying jobs to our team members and we look forward to the future generation of agricultural leaders with the great skills and training offered by the Career & Technology Center.”
The agriculture industry has a number of opportunities for good-paying local jobs, from maintenance to processing and production to logistics. Herbruck’s spoke about the local opportunities available in both processing and production as potential fields for students to enter after high school. Nutt worked with the Career & Technology Center’s workforce development class about receiving employer feedback and development as a working professional.
“Thank you to the team at Blue Springs for offering helpful information to our students about the numerous opportunities available in the agricultural field,” said Lori Stockman, workforce development instructor at the Career & Technology Center. “The skills and insight the workforce of tomorrow took away from this visit will help them make critical decisions about their career paths and keep developing and advancing their skills for years to come.”
Herbruck’s is committed to helping develop the next generation of agricultural leaders by providing good-paying local jobs that offer premium health care, a safe working environment and opportunities for learning, development and advancement.
