Herbruck’s Kendallville Plant

Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch, a fourth-generation leading egg producer, is building a new egg processing plant in Kendallville, Indiana. The northeast Indiana plant will begin production in spring 2026.

About the Kendallville Plant

Herbruck’s plant in Kendallville will increase Herbruck’s egg processing capacity to meet customer demand, allow for the local processing of Indiana eggs, and distribute eggs from the site directly to our retail customers.

The 75,000-square-foot plant will have a positive impact on the Kendallville community through investment, jobs, and community involvement. We look forward to participating in community events and local organizations that help make Kendallville a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

The plant will create job opportunities for local residents and will employ 60 people when it is fully operational in spring 2026.

What attracted you to working at Herbruck’s?

What attracted me the most was the Herbruck’s reputation in our industry. As an outstanding family organization, they stand by their people and ethics. They make it known that the most important concern is having care and compassion for the chickens. The other reason is that I have worked for a few family owned and operated organizations, and Herbruck’s makes you feel as though you truly are a part of their family. The interactions I have had are nothing short of the best in the industry.

Where were you working before joining Herbruck’s?

Before Herbruck’s, I held various positions from maintenance helper to vice president in a few manufacturing industries such as automotive, foundries and the food industry. I feel very comfortable in the food industry and I love being a part of processing the world’s most perfect food, eggs!

What are the skills and experiences you bring to this position?

As the new team leader for our Kendallville site, I bring a vast skill set of knowledge in maintenance, engineering, succession planning and leadership development for those who wish to move up in our organization and build a bond with community.

Where are you from originally and are you or your family involved in any community organizations?

I am originally from the northwestern Ohio area where I met and married my wife Susan over 32 years ago. We have 3 beautiful children, and we have been involved in many areas of our community. I was past President of Gaslight Playhouse, worked in local food banks in northeastern Indiana, attended a local church and helped our students and families with fundraisers in order to positively impact our community.

What are some of your favorite things about Kendallville?

Great neighbors make great neighborhoods, and Kendallville has so much to offer. We have very involved leadership from the Mayor and leadership councils as well as help from local governments and organizations such as Work One Workforce Development. High school athletics mean a lot to locals. Both my daughters were in show choir at the high school.

What do you like to do outside of work?

My wife and I have always believed in living for our children and now, we do the same for all the grandchildren. We have a large garden that my wife manages and we enjoy spending time at the lake on our boat.

What kind of impact do you want to make at Herbruck’s?

I want to use my experiences to build the next level of leadership at Herbruck’s and bring sustainability to the community. I love being a part of providing a good living for local families and communities. I would love to see just how high I can climb in our company and impact as many teammates as I can! We build lives here, not just jobs!

What is your favorite way to eat eggs?

Hard Boiled, over medium and of course, eggs Benedict!
