Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch celebrates 66th anniversary

SARANAC, Mich., July 30, 2024 – Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch, a fourth-generation family business, is celebrating its 66th year of operations this month.

From its humble beginnings as an egg processing and distribution network started by first-generation Harry Herbruck Sr. with 3,000 hens. Today, Herbruck’s is an award-winning company with more than 11 million hens in its flock. It produces more than 2.5 billion eggs each year as Michigan’s largest egg producer and has expanded with additional locations in Pennsylvania and Indiana.

“Our 66th anniversary is a great reminder of how far we have come. We are incredibly proud of the sustainable growth even in the face of challenges like avian influenza,” said Greg Herbruck, CEO of Herbruck’s. “I’m grateful to say we are in rebuilding mode and the changes we are making will allow us to be more efficient and more sustainable than ever.”

Herbruck’s worked tirelessly alongside state and federal regulators throughout the last couple of months to disinfect its facilities and is now beginning to repopulate egg-laying hens. In this rebuilding effort, Herbruck’s has implemented even stricter biosecurity measures for all its facilities to protect the safety and well-being of its flocks.

Biosecurity is an important element for the future sustainability of Herbruck’s, highlighted in its 2024 sustainability report, which looks back at the company’s sustainability efforts throughout 2023.

Herbruck’s fourth generation continues to increase its involvement in the business, from company operations to bird care.

“Members of the fourth generation of the Herbruck’s family have been able to engage in many different aspects of our family business and are bringing the values our company was built on forward into the future,” said Marilyn Herbruck, the family matriarch who has been in the egg business for more than 60 years after her marriage to Harry Herbruck Jr. “The next generation helps ensure the sustainability and success of Herbruck’s for generations to come.”

Along with its 66th anniversary, Herbruck’s is also celebrating Greg Herbruck’s recent honor as Entrepreneur of the Year in the Northwest and Ohio presented by Ernst and Young. As the world’s most prestigious business award for entrepreneurs, the program honors inspirational and innovative business leaders.

For the second year in a row, Herbruck’s was recognized as one of the Best & Brightest Companies to Work for in the Nation by the National Association for Business Resources. This award identifies and honors organizations that display a commitment to excellence in their human resources practices and employee enrichment.
