Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch hosts inaugural blood drive
Second blood drive planned for Nov. 3
SARANAC, Mich. – Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch, a fourth-generation family farm, hosted a blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
Blood was donated by employees of Herbruck’s and members of the public. The Red Cross has a constant and ongoing need for blood and platelet donations.
“Here at Herbruck’s, we pride ourselves on going above and beyond to support our neighbors, and add benefit to the health of the community,” Herbruck’s president Greg Herbruck. “We are proud to offer these opportunities to our employees and the public and look forward to holding more blood drive events in the future to help with blood and platelet shortages, especially during the ongoing pandemic.”
Herbruck’s will host another blood drive on Tuesday, Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. People can schedule appointments on RedCrossBlood.org and entering the sponsor code “EGGS” or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS. Giveaways will be available to all donors. To ensure the safety of everyone involved, people who have chickens and/or pigs will not be permitted on site unless they have gone through a 72-hour quarantine period.
The Red Cross tests all blood, platelet and plasma donations for COVID-19 antibodies and follows safety guidelines during blood donations.
