Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch releases annual Sustainability Report
SARANAC, Mich. – Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch, Michigan’s largest egg producer, has released its annual Sustainability Report, detailing how the fourth-generation family business puts key sustainable practices into place across the company.
The report covers 2024 and shows how Herbruck’s implements four key pillars of sustainability: People, Planet, Products and Prosperity.
“These principles ensure we continue to grow responsibly in ways that demonstrate care for our hens, our people, our communities and our world,” said Greg Herbruck, CEO of Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch. “In 2024, we emerged from big challenges stronger and more efficient, and even more focused on our mission to produce delicious eggs made with the highest standards of quality, animal care and sustainability.”
This year’s report also discusses the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) at Herbruck’s, how the company has worked to rebuild and its advocacy since to protect hens.
People: Herbruck’s was recognized nationally for being a great place to work and continued providing comprehensive benefits for team members. The company celebrated the six-year anniversary of its on-site Employee Wellness Clinic. Herbruck’s also donated nearly 2 million eggs to agencies that help families in need.
Planet: Herbruck’s met key energy initiatives and actively participated in programs that foster sustainability in the agriculture industry. The implementation of new hen houses reduced dust
and other air particulates from the farm, and Herbruck’s continued prioritizing environmentally friendly packaging and using hen waste to produce organic fertilizer for farmers and consumers.
Products: In 2024, Herbruck’s invested in numerous biosecurity enhancements that further protect egg-laying hens from HPAI. A special biosecurity section details Herbruck’s response to HPAI and its advocacy at the federal level for an aggressive vaccine strategy and universal biosecurity standards.
Prosperity: Herbruck’s celebrated its 66th anniversary in 2024. The family’s fourth generation took on more responsibility across the company, and Herbruck’s continued to create more efficient, sustainable processes with the future of the company in mind.
