KENDALLVILLE, Ind. – Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch, a fourth-generation family business and one of the top egg producers in the United States, today celebrated its new egg processing plant in Kendallville, which will begin processing eggs this month.

Company officials and local leaders gathered at the site for a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the conclusion of construction on the 75,000-square-foot plant on Weston Avenue. The plant will process about 420 million local, farm fresh eggs annually for distribution directly to customers.

“Our Kendallville plant will have a positive impact on the community through our company’s investment, the jobs we’re creating and our commitment to community involvement,” said Stephanie Kempa, chief human resources officer at Herbruck’s. “We are grateful to the city of Kendallville and state of Indiana for welcoming Herbruck’s to the community and look forward to an amazing partnership for the benefit of the entire region.”

Locating in Kendallville will help Herbruck’s increase its egg processing capacity to meet customer demands and allows for the local processing of Indiana eggs. The plant will create 60 jobs and result in a $20 million economic investment in the Kendallville community and greater region. Herbruck’s received Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) tax credits from the State of Indiana for the project due to its creation of jobs.

“Our economy is healthier, and we all benefit when we have local companies with amazing values creating job opportunities and generating economic activity,” said Nikole Albright, executive director of the Kendallville Area Chamber of Commerce. “Herbruck’s egg processing plant is a big boost to our local business community and economy.”

Herbruck’s continues to hire workers at the plant for jobs with premium health care and access to free telehealth services, excellent benefits and opportunities for learning, development and advancement.

In all of the communities it serves, Herbruck’s is focused on being a good neighbor, donating more than 2 million eggs annually to local organizations that help families in need, along with additional donations of funds and supplies to food banks, schools and community groups.

Today’s event also served as an introduction to Todd Fowler, the Kendallville plant manager. Fowler is a longtime Indiana resident.

“Herbruck’s values have led to the success and growth of the company for nearly seven decades – that’s why I was interested in working here,” Fowler said. “I look forward to helping our crew members expand their skills, connect with their community and be part of a team that provides high-quality Herbruck’s eggs to customers.”
