Hiring of general contractor Stewart & Tate, joined by Galbraith/Pre-Design Inc. as pre-engineered metal building contractor, reflects Herbruck’s commitment to hire from region
MERCERSBURG, Pa. – Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch today announced it has chosen Stewart & Tate as its general contractor for a new sustainable cage-free egg-laying facility in Montgomery Township, Pennsylvania.
Herbruck’s began site preparation on the $100 million Blue Springs Egg Farm in January.
Stewart & Tate, based in York, Pennsylvania, was awarded the contract and will begin construction in May. The family owned and operated company was founded in 1935 and offers a wealth of knowledge and experience.
“Herbruck’s is grateful to have the expertise and experience of Stewart & Tate on our team for the Blue Springs Egg Farm project,” said Greg Herbruck, president of Herbruck’s. “We’re excited to begin this next phase of the project that will result in economic benefits for the entire region.”
Stewart & Tate specializes in general building construction, site development and specialized industrial construction.
“Stewart & Tate has deep roots in the region, and we’re excited to be part of welcoming Herbruck’s to Pennsylvania,” said Tim Tate, president of Stewart & Tate Construction. “The Blue Springs Egg Farm project will result in many benefits for our communities and employ local workers. It’s an exciting time for all of us, and we’re eager to get started.”
The first phase of the farm will include four poultry barns, an egg processing plant, and a manure processing building. Herbruck’s expects to begin production at Blue Springs in mid-2022. The facility will employ nearly 200 people when fully operational.
Herbruck’s also awarded part of the project to Carlisle-based Galbraith/Pre-Design Inc. for the construction of pre-engineered metal poultry buildings and manure barn.
“Galbraith started off as a family business and we’ve grown into an award-winning contractor for our customers,” said Allan Galbraith, president of Galbraith. “That’s why we’re excited to work with Herbruck’s, another family business, and to offer our expertise to this project.”
